16 Year Old Boy Shot In Leg While Duck Hunting
A 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg when a friend dropped his shotgun as they hunted ducks in central Minnesota. The accident happened as three 16-year-old boys were hunting from a boat on Powers Lake in rural Meeker County at around 7 a.m. Sunday. The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office says the hunters shot at a group of ducks when one of the hunters dropped his gun. The gun went off, striking a boy from rural Dassel in the leg. His friends called 911 and provided medical care including an improvised tourniquet. Responders arrived and took the boy to Meeker Memorial Hospital. He was then taken by air ambulance to North Memorial Health in Robbinsdale with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
