Bale Fire

Fire crews spent about 10 hours battle a hay bale fire near Pillager on Monday Oct. 12. The call came in at around 4:26 a.m. Crews used more than 42,000 gallons of water to put of out the fire. The fire destroyed more than 1,000 bales. Fire officials said they were humbled by community members who kept crews fed and hydrated with sandwiches, treats, water and coffee. Children also baked cookies for firefighters on scene. No one was hurt and no animals or equipment were lost.
