Barn Fire

A barn fire Wednesday morning destroyed a farm building and killed numerous animals in Douglas County, authorities said. Deputies responded to the 4000 block of Utopia Drive NW at 11:51 a.m. after a caller reported seeing smoke but no visible flames. When deputies arrived, both smoke and flames were visible. The Garfield Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire, but the barn was a complete loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities say no foul play is suspected. No injuries were reported. The Alexandria Fire Department, Brandon Fire Department, and North Memorial Ambulance assisted at the scene.
