Capsized Canoe

A man and a woman were rescued after their canoe capsized near a damn in northern Minnesota. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says the water emergency was reported Saturday morning  8:18 a.m. at the Island Lake Dam, where police were informed two people were in the water with life jackets after the capsize. A 61-year-old woman from Duluth was pulled from the water by anglers who were fishing from the shore. Her canoeing partner, a 63-year-old man from Duluth, “was pulled under the strong currents” but was eventually able to get to shore. The man suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and was taken to a hospital by Mayo Ambulance. The woman had no apparent injuries.
