The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office received a call in the afternoon hours of January 25 in regards to a house fire in Detroit Lakes that left the home a total loss. When deputies arrived at the scene, the home was already engulfed in flames. They were greeted by a man and his girlfriend, who provided details about the incident. The couple explained they had left the house approximately 20 minutes prior. Upon their return, they discovered the home filled with smoke, with flames spreading rapidly throughout the kitchen area. According to records, no injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is undetermined. The fire remains under investigation.
