On Wednesday 02/19/2025, The Todd County Sheriff’s Office received information about a phone scam a resident had received. The scammer reported themselves to be from the US Treasury Department. They stated there had been fraudulent activity on the citizen's account and she was going to be arrested. Computer Internet Provider (IP) information was given to the scammers where they were able to access the victim's computer. The citizen also gave out other personal information to the scammers. TCSO reminds citizens not to give out your IP address to anyone. They can gain access to your computer and steal personal information. Also, do not give out any personal information to anyone.
